Named after Scottish painter Samuel J. Peploe, a favourite of the owner, this atmospheric cellar restaurant occupies a former bank vault, with the space now having a warm, clubby feel thanks to its red leather banquettes and large, colourful murals. While Irish produce is at the core of the tried-and-tested cooking, inspiration tends to come from around Europe, be that in a classic French onion soup or the signature chicken Milanese, which mines plenty of flavour from the well-seasoned meat and the simple, capably executed accompaniments.
