The husband-and-wife duo of AJ and Rachael Donner are behind Pump Social, located just outside Charlotte in downtown Concord. Set inside a vintage gas station, this casual sandwich shop turns out playful options like the Boys of Summer with thick-cut bacon, garden tomatoes, green-leaf lettuce and house aioli on sourdough, or the Service Station Steak with seared sirloin, blue cheese, house onion jam, creamy horseradish, and arugula on a soft baguette. La Famiglia takes toasted ciabatta and layers in capicola, Genoa salami, mortadella, cheese and a spicy pickled pepper spread for a subtle heat. Don't even think about skipping their potato salad. While it's mainly a takeaway spot, there are a few seats indoors and out.
