We ate at Les Bacchanales in Vence in July 2011. Our party consisted of four omnivores, one vegetarian, and one vegan (vegetalian in French). We were simply overwhelmed by the warmth of the greeting from wonderful chef Dufau and by how willing and in fact enthusiastic he was to accommodate the vegetarian and the vegan. He delighted in making special dinners for them, while treating the rest of our group with great charm and warmth. Every single bite of every dish was outstanding, and the lovely garden setting was absolutely remarkable. The smoked goat cheese served under glass was especially notable. It was fabulous to have so much interaction with the chef, who takes every dinner order, and the rest of the staff was also charming and personable. You can go for the Michelin-starred food, and you will return for the food and the gracious welcome.

Accoglienza piuttosto calda, con lo chef che prende personalmente le ordinazioni e illustra informalmente i piatti. Servizio attento e cortese anche per chi non parla un francese fluente. D'estate si gode una bella vista su un giardino pieno di fiori ed erbe aromatiche. deliziosi i pani, interessante l'amouse-bouche al fico d'india.
Buona tecnica, ma un pó senz'anima. Troppa semplicità non esalta i sapori, bensì deprime il piatto. Per una stella è lecito aspettarsi qualcosa di più.
