The wine was good and affordable. The food was ok but except for the desert, nothing to write home about.
This was likely the most unfriendly welcome I ever had. I came at 9 pm, the waitress was mumbling something hostile and locked the door of the restaurant, to make sure that no more unwelcome guests would enter! And the rest of the evening almost matched the welcome!

Ever since discovering the restaurant by chance some years ago, I make a point of eating at Les Dames each time I have to stay in Brussels, and have never been disappointed . The cooking is quite exceptional - sophisticated and subtle, without being extravagant or modish. Yes, the restaurant is eccentric and the service can be slow but the people are delightful when you get to know them. The very lengthy wine list is fascinating - almost entirely French, chosen with real knowledge and an eye for value. There is little point in mentioning particular dishes because the menu changes very frequently, in response to what is is season; the quality of ingredients is as exceptional as the refinement of the cooking.
